Happy Fish 5th Annual 5K,10K Walk/Run for Education

The 1st appearance of the "The Flash." And for those who are wondering who the guy in the skin tight, bright red costume is.....it's Scott. Yes, I'm so proud!!

Let me tell you a quick story of how this came about. Every year, or for the past 4 years, Scott transforms into "Barry Tweeter" for the kids run. Barry is a nerdy guy who wears suspenders, high-water pants, and a fanny pack. Every year Barry leads the kids in stretches and he leads the kids in their course, usually getting beat by the older kids. Well, this year, the day before the run, Jeremy received a package in the mail, which included 2 costumes (The Flash, and Robin). Scott immediately fell in love with the costume and wanted to be "The Flash" instead of Barry Tweeter for this years run. I immediately said...NO! Let's see, a costume that would fit Jeremy (who is much shorter than Scott and skinnier - sorry Jer, Jer is muscular too!) but this costume would require Scott to squeeze and stretch to fit in it!!! This could be extremely embarrassing. But of course, Scott was so giddy about being able to run around in a skin tight costume...he eventually won! The kids and the adults LOVED his costume, which surprised me - I thought some of the parents would complain about a grown adult running around in a liotard suit. So many people came up to me and said that "The Flash" was so much cooler than Barry Tweeter and then they would comment on how skinny Scott is.

This year Kiley and I did not run, we walked the 5K. Last year we were training for the Camp Pendleton Mud Run (good times!!), but this year with Kiley being 7 months prego, we decided to walk. Maya, Kiley, Grandma Donna, and I had a nice leisure walk together. This year it was exceptionally cold...you know...cold for Californians.

I love this event! I love Happy Fishes' commitment to education and the community. I feel priveledged to be apart of the Happy Fish family -- I looking forward to the 6th annual Run for Education and of course the 2nd appearance of "The Flash"!

More Pictures of Maya during Gymnastics

Maya LOVED the parachute. She was a little bummed that today's class (Class #2) they did not play with the parachute.

Maya's First Gymnastic Class

Last Saturday we spent the morning at Bay Aerials Gymnastics. It is located across the parking lot from the Fremont Happy Fish! Maya was super excited for her new class. She was one of the older students in the class. For the whole 40 min. of class, Maya had a huge smile on her face.

Scott and I were a little afraid that she would run amuck and do whatever she wanted to do, but she did so well! She listened to Teacher Mike and loved to be the demonstrator.

I think her favorite activity was jumping on the trampoline and playing with the large parachute! Maya would occasionally stop and look at the older girls who were doing back flips, and say, "I wanna do that!"

Blue October: Twice in 4 months Equals 2 Fabulous Nights!

I would like to give a shot out to my sister for introducing me to one of my new favorite band's...Blue October. Don't worry, The Cure will always remain a favorite! Last April and last Friday, August 1st, Scott and I saw Blue October. I heard a few of their songs after reading the Twilight series, but after seeing them in April I new I wanted to hear more of their songs. Their new CD Approaching Normal is great. If you have a chance check out their music. "Blue Does," "My Never," are just a couple great songs.

Back to the concert. Scott and I went to the concert in San Jose together. The venue wasn't great, I prefer the Filmore in San Francisco (where we saw them in April) but San Jose is a 3rd home for us (ComedySportz). We had a great time together! I love that we both love concerts (live music); its just one more thing that we can do together. Between last year (teaching credential program) and Scott's crazy summer work schedule, its awesome that we can do things together. And of course we can't do these things with out our great babysitters!!! Thanks Mom and Dad, for always willing to take Maya!

Wow! how easily I get off topic. There were some interesting people at the concert. I really like the music, but I have never understood how some people become a little crazy about the band. There was a guy there that was trying to look exactly like the lead singer, Justin. A little weird. If I was a in a band and someone was trying to duplicate my look...I would be a little creeped out, but hey, that's just me.

The next concert we go to will be with a group of friends to see Blink 182 and Weezer. I CAN'T wait!! Hopefully I'll have real pictures instead of just a picture taken from the Internet!

A Belated Birthday Present

On Friday, July 24th Scott took me to the Cliff House in San Francisco. For those who know when my birthday is, this was a very belated birthday present, but worth it. I don't know if you have been there, but everyone should experience this place! He made reservations for Sutros Restaurant, which is pretty fancy. On the Scott Schroder fancy (expensive) scale, it would probably rank at a 9.7 out of 10.
We started out pretty gutsy by ordering oysters......you know why!!!! Besides the one reason people eat oysters, I do not know why people do, because you just swallow the oyster, its not filling. And then we ate filet of beef (mignon) and salmon. Scott had this amazing hummus ravioli; my mouth is still waters when I think about this ravioli. Who would know that hummus and ravioli pasta would go well together. For those who are worried about the portions being too small. They weren't, it was perfect because for some reason when you go to a restaurant like this, you automatically eat slower, devouring each bite. We did not leave the restaurant hungry. I could go on forever about the food, but I won't, I just hope that you all will be able to experience this place. And you can't beat the view, the ocean.
We had a great day and night together...and just in case you were wondering...yes, oysters are a great way to get the evening started!!
